What a joy it is to hit a well designed trail. That's what this day was about. After some recent disappointments, hitting well thought out lines is a refreshing joy. Berms, switchbacks, drops, jumps that made us smile, yay for that!

This place is just outside a larger city, and the lines here are older than Yoda, but that has its drawbacks as well tho', alot has happened since the dawn of times, and there has been a lot of recent effort put into raising the overall quality in this place. Effort well spent.

Our trail guide this day was Thomas. A trail builder/designer and a long term advocate for better trails, and a higher quality of trails. Now that's something I can attest to! : )

Henning on a newly build feature, on a XC course. It consist of 4 small drops in a row, the idea is ok I guess, but a awkward up-hill (!) run-in sucks the fun out of it, killing speed. All those man-hours, wasted because of a single stupid build decision. Oh well.

Happened during XC. A few inches to the right, and this force would have been applied to my genitals. Ouch.

I noticed that the trailbuilders are upgrading the trailgap, its not quite done yet, but you can see the new drop in the background. Way bigger than the old one, and further back. Interesting stuff. Stay tuned.

I suck at XC because..

..I get easily distracted.

So I was out with Henning on a XC course near a larger city. Its a popular line that has seen some recent revisions and "improvements". Turns out it was the usual; build-without-thinking approach.

Anyway, 

we rode the line, and all of a sudden we spot something right next to the XC line...a potential mini-roadgap! So after some inspection, a few beers, and some discreet digging, we had ourself a fine little jump, about 1,2m tall, and 3,5m out, into a transition. Turns out this..XC, is ok afterall ; )

It might be a small jump, but it sure was a fun diversion, when the original premise of this day was XC.
